Peggy Sattler
Director of Policy Studies
As Academica Group’s Director of Policy Studies, Peggy Sattler has produced comprehensive reports for hundreds of client colleges and universities analyzing and interpreting findings from our postsecondary student research studies. Her recent projects have focused on PSE and labour market outcomes among at-risk applicants, Aboriginal student recruitment and retention at the college level, aligning college programs with local labour market needs, and the evaluation of cancer screening and prevention programs in Aboriginal communities. She is currently working with the Association of Canadian Community Colleges on policy recommendations and best practices related to the sustainability of Canada’s allied health professions, and is leading a multi-year study for the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO) to explore the integration of work and learning in the Ontario postsecondary sector.
In 2000, Peggy's passion for education policy led her to seek election to the Thames Valley District School Board, where she was elected as a public school board trustee. Re-elected in 2003, 2006, and 2010, she served as Chair of the Board for two terms, and currently sits on the executive of the Ontario Public School Boards Association. In 2009, she was appointed by the Minister of Education to represent English public school boards on the provincial Governance Review Committee, with the mandate to review public education governance across Ontario’s four systems of education.
Before joining Academica Group, Peggy managed media and stakeholder relations at both the provincial and federal levels of government. She holds a post-graduate certificate in Corporate Communication and Public Relations, an Honours BA in Political Science, and is completing an M.Ed in Educational Policy.
